Budget Meetings This Week

budetmeetings

The overwhelming theme during the public budget workshops held on Monday was fiscal responsibility. The Board of County Commissioners listened and asked some tough questions as department heads took time to explain the details of their 2020 budget requests. "We're proud that we've been frugal in the past with our spending and we need to continue that way of thinking. It's important that the decisions we make continue to keep our county in a good place financially," stated Jeff Rector.
On Monday, the BOCC heard from Road & Bridge, IT, Finance, Natural Resources, Public Health, Sheriff's Office, Fleet and Communications. Tuesday they will hear from Human Services, Facilities, HR, Coroner, Economic Development, Attorney, Clerk & Recorder, Treasurer, Assessor, Building, Weed & Pest and the Fairfield. Wednesday they will hear from Planning/GIS/Surveyor, Emergency Management, Veterans Office, Rangely and Meeker Airports, WR Museum, Use Tax, the Extension Office and the Fair Board.
The budget workshops will continue through Wednesday and will be immediately followed by a wrap-up session in which the commissioners will further discuss budget decisions. If the wrap-up session requires time beyond Wednesday afternoon, information regarding any future discussion/work session will be posted publicly.
The Budget Adoption meeting is scheduled for December 11th at 6pm at 555 Main Street, 3rd Floor Commissioner's Hearing Room, Meeker.
